In his latest blog, group sales director, Simon Ward, explains what he and his team have been up to over the last few weeks and looks ahead to some exciting events on the horizon.

“Nothing ever prepares me for the autumn months here at Grahame Gardner – it really is all go, and all hands on deck!

During September and October, we hit the road embarking on a nationwide tour travelling the length and breadth of the country to visit different locations stretching from Newcastle to Southampton. During 25 full days of measuring, we match over 5,500 students with the new uniforms required for their courses.

That first week or so at university is often a really daunting time for many students and we really enjoy helping to take the pressure off by getting each of them and looking the part ready for the hard work to really begin! The students we help to kit out include those undertaking a wide variety of courses and training pathways such as veterinary, dental, nursing, mental health, radiology, midwifery, healthcare sciences, podiatry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and orthopics.

It’s certainly a busy time as we ensure all of the students are properly measured and the right order placed. The uniforms are bespoke to university preference, and embroidered with the relevant logo or emblem. Some of the universities also have a MyShop account which means that students can reorder additional, university approved uniforms for their course which makes the whole process extremely slick.

It’s great to see the students at the start of their courses full of enthusiasm as they begin their career journey - the excitement as they try on their new uniforms in palpable! To be part of this is really heartwarming for me and the team – yes, it’s busy with lots of travelling but we love it! To make sure we build on our relationship with the students as they carry on throughout their education and future career paths, we have just launched a new free membership called Club GG. It’s a way for us to keep engaged with the students and also means they can benefit from free samples, latest news, special offers and exclusive VIP perks. Take a look at for more details.

It’s also non-stop for our sister company, GFORCE Sportwear! We were really excited to attend this year’s Schoolwear Show, particularly as it was the 20th year of this annual trade event and one of the most talked about events of the schoolwear calendar. In fact our chief executive and chairman James Greenlees was instrumental in setting the very first one up all those years ago!

Coming up in November we also have Chartered Society of Physiotherapists Conference, Spa Life and the Podiatry conference to attend. I’m also preparing for a visit to the Learning and Teaching Expo in Hong Kong in December, as well as prepping for P&P LIVE! in January so watch this space. There is always plenty going on to keep me on my toes!”
