 Grahame Gardner Ltd are delighted to lend their support to a commendable project which brings Dental care to orphans in Cambodia. Comprising of 5 Dental students from the University of Manchester, the Cambodian Dental Mission will visit 12 orphanages across the country, bringing a mobile dental laboratory in order to carry out simple treatments to relieve children of dental pain. Grahame Gardner were approached by the students and asked if they could provide uniforms and they were more than happy to help.
Working in conjunction with the Cambodian Tooth Angel project, the students anticipate carrying out rudimentary treatments such as fillings and extraction alongside offering toothbrushes and advice on dental care. Jennifer Archer, one of the students participating comments on what has motivated them to spend their Summer break in Cambodia: -
“The vast majority of the population in Cambodia live in what the EU considers to be poverty. Things that we take for granted in the UK, such as free dental care, are way beyond the means of most people out there. Unfortunately the children in the orphanages have no access to dental care, or, in many cases, access to tools of dental hygiene, like toothbrushes and toothpaste. The average 5-year-old child in Cambodia has 8-10 decayed teeth, and therefore the children often live with constant pain. It is statistics like these that have moved myself and my fellow students to sign up for this project. We hope in the short time we are in the country we will be able to make a positive difference to the lives of some of Cambodia’s children.”
